About
Nacho Rivera is intently aware of the way images tell a story. The thread of human experience runs through his work. With a mindful and artistic approach, the Spanish photographer delights in detail. He highlights the subtle and the unexpected, creating thoughtful and meaningful images, with an emphasis on narrative.
”I'm interested in the concept of connection: between people, the environment, and ourselves. I worry that modern society is becoming more individualistic and superficial. In response, my curiosity about cultures leads me to explore their subtle links, raising questions about values such as empathy, respect and spirituality.
Using analogue cameras requires me to slow down, allowing me to form deeper connections with the people and spaces I photograph. The process also helps me to embrace the imperfection, a concept that links the beauty of the human condition and the uniqueness of the handmade prints in the darkroom”.
