"You can find out how to do something and then do it or do something and then find out what you did." ~ Isamu Noguchi
︎ My intention in creating this journal is to share not only some professional news but also inspiring experiences, feelings and emotions.
I have to admit that when I entered the Barbican Centre to enjoy Isamu Noguchi’s exhibition, I didn’t know the massive influence that appreciating his work would have on me. The space, illuminated by his fragile and airy lamps transformed the gallery into a delicate garden of light where to get lost. As Noguchi said once, "art should become as one with its surroundings". The exhibition naliled the concept. I was fascinated.
After that, I decided to, somehow, incorporate that sense of magic in my humble home in London so, trying to understand what inspired him to create his work, in the following years I visited the Brancusi studio museum in Paris and travelled all the way to Japan.
Now, almost every time someone comes to my home, they all repeat the same comment. “Oh, such a peaceful place, I love it.” And I smile. Thank you, Isamu.
