MaddAddam
The language of movement. Sir Wayne McGregor, composer Max Richter and the Royal Opera House lead dancer, Joseph Sissens, for The Telegraph Luxury Magazine.
︎ Just a few days after becoming the father of a beautiful little creature called Nikko, with a little bit of sleep deprivation balanced out by huge excitement, I met and photographed three incredibly inspiring artists for The Telegraph Luxury Magazine: Choreographer Sir Wayne McGregor, composer Max Richter and the Royal Opera House lead dancer, Joseph Sissens.
Andy, the picture editor, was looking for a dynamic and well-composed portrait of the three artists in the space. A few days before the photoshoot, I scouted the location: the choreographer’s stunning studio in East London, a spacious, modern, minimalist area with countless possibilities for creativity. I returned home with several ideas.
As the allotted time was nearing its end, I noticed a corner of the studio that I hadn't seen before. I asked the three artists if they could pose for just two more minutes in that spot. I explained the idea, and kindly agreed. I was lucky, as that picture became the main image published alongside the article.
These shots accompany a wonderful piece by Mick Brown, as well as stunning portraits of Margaret Atwood by Jenifer Roberts, all celebrating the visionary ballet inspired by Atwood’s trilogy, MaddAddam.
