Domine Dirige Nos
With its own laws and traditions, The City of London is a very mysterious and enigmatic place, home to some of the worlds most powerful and influential businesses, it is full of iconic buildings, banks and churches. Even her Majesty, The Queen of England, has to ask for permission when she wants to pass through its ancient walls.
Founded by Romans, The City of London gained its administrative independence in 886 AD. Its motto in Roman times was “Domine dirige nos”, which is Latin for “Lord, guide us”. This sentence still decorates The City of London in every corner.
“Domine dirige nos” is a photo essay that explores the interaction between the two powers that mainly have dictated the destiny of the world over the last two thousand years: faith and money, which are heavily interconnected in this mile square.
