Domine Dirige Nos

Founded by Romans, The City of London gained its administrative independence in 886 AD. Its motto in Roman times was “Domine dirige nos”, which is Latin for “Lord, guide us”. This sentence still decorates The City of London in every corner.

With its own laws and traditions, The City of London is a very mysterious and enigmatic place, home to some of the worlds most powerful and influential businesses, it is full of iconic buildings, banks and churches.

With a methaporical approach, “Domine dirige nos” explores the heavily interconnected relationship between religion and economy over the history in The City, using urban landscapes and architecture as visual language.
