Pure
“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes, and the grass grows, by itself” - Matsuo Basho
"Pure" is a photography project that invites the viewer to reflect on the way we live in developed societies, through portraits of individuals who live differently, at a much slower pace.
I have lived most of my life between the busy capital cities of London and Madrid, where in spite of full agendas, a permanent nagging feeling of 'missing something' persists.
Instinctively, over the last decade, I've been drawn to photograph people with a different approach to life - calmer and more present. I noticed that photography was also helping me to slow down and embrace the sense of peace embodied by people simply "doing nothing".
Using a medium format camera and working with film forced me to approach people at a different pace, slowly and more consciously, which allowed me to connect deeply with the subjects. Developing and printing the pictures in the darkroom added a meaningful new layer to the work, making the whole process a celebration of slow living.

The Oval
On 5 March 1870, England and Scotland played the first-ever international football match. On this day, the seed was planted for football to become the most popular game in the world. The event took place in London, in a venue called The Oval. Since then, football spread its magic to every corner of the globe.
But football is so much more than a sport. Football has been my passport to live more intensely. It allowed me to connect with people worldwide despite their race, age, sex, social status or beliefs. No matter where you go, you can speak this universal language.
For me, football is also a passport to travel in time. It takes me home to the streets of Getafe, in Madrid, where I played as a child, where I grazed my knees on the hot tarmac of the summer streets, where football was in the hearts of the community, was lived in the community, was a joy for the community.
But The Oval is not only a project about football. It is a visual methaphor about empathy, respect and dreams. It is about values that I consider imperative to cultivate for a better society. It is about a sense of belonging to a family called humanity.

In Praise of Generosity
"In praise of generosity" is a tribute to the town of Vilassar de Dalt, (Barcelona) and its people who, with determination and passion, created the analogue photography festival RevelaT in 2012.
I developed the project over the artistic residency I took part in 2019, through a collection of intimate portraits of the volunteers in the heart of the festival: Cal Galbart, an abandoned old factory, in dialogue with minimal urban landscapes of the town.
